Resumo:
This paper aims to present an understanding of how the Brazilian Semiarid
issue is addressed in History and Geography Textbooks Component used
by two elementary schools of the State and Municipal systems in
2010/2011 in Sumé (PB). It is assumed that education is indispensable in
the transformation of realities of the peoples of the Brazilian Semiarid as a
process built in its social, political and economic perspective of new
directions in regional development. The methodology used in the research
was the qualitative model, giving a cut to the textbooks analysed. The
research field consisted of Gonçala Rodrigues de Freitas and Professor
José Gonçalves de Queiroz schools. This work presents the
characterization of Textbooks in ahistorical and cultural vision of
teaching/learning. In recent decades, scholars have paid more attention to
the assessment and quality of textbooks distributed in public schools
because the Textbook is not the only support material for school teaching
practices, but they are important in this process and they have
contributed to students´s performance. On the otherhand, the inadequate
approaches by some of these issues have alienated these educational
resources of the realities of some Brazilian schools significantly. From this
work, we can consider that the textbooks analyzed did not introduce to
students the Brazilian Semiarid issue on the adopted perspective of this
work, thus requiring a research involving school/society to change this
view of works which brings the Brazilian Semiarid.
