Resumo:
Associations are the strength of a group of individuals with the same vision, will and some
skill in order to achieve common goals, even with the help of other agencies, whether local,
state or federal. Are nonprofit organizations, making the so-called Third Sector, also
composed by cooperatives and non-governmental organizations. So they assume significant
importance in this context and have played a key role, contributing in acquiring social and
economic benefits for its members and society in general. This paper stresses the importance
of economic and social development of the Community Association LaginhaSumé - Paraíba,
for its members and the local community. Therefore, the procedures of the study were
performed in a descriptive, analytical and exploratory qualitative analysis, for which it was
used interviews through questionnaires containing open and closed questions, with the
president and associate members. However, it was found that the association seeks to improve
social and economic community of the study, through its projects and its members are with
obtaining benefits and fight for the right of free association for lawful purposes, since there is
the fragility of public policies in this sector. Also, it was observed that the lack of a fixed
location is one of the main difficulties of the association, stressing the importance of political
support from municipal administrators for motivation in the association. Thus, further studies
on this issue should arise paramount social and academic.
