Abstract:
The extraordinary increase in the volume of production and consumption of goods, caused by the technological advance of industrial processes, required a greater exploitation of natural resources on a large scale, without worrying about the suitability of the disposal of waste production to meet demand. Over the years, however the concept of Sustainable Development and Environmental Management have gained strength and support. The society, as well as market and government have exerted pressure through laws, rules, meetings, conferences, among other means, and thus have caused the business increasingly adopt the concepts, principles and models of environmental management . It is fact that big companies are perfectly familiar with these pressures and the importance of sustainable development, but the micro enterprises have to adapt in order to stay in the market and differentiation. Therefore, this study aimed primarily to identify the perception that managers of companies from the car wash on the implementation of sustainable practices in their businesses. To achieve this goal, we used descriptive research, making use of the method field research. Data obtained through a semi-structured interview with managers of 20 car washes Campina Grande were used in order to identify the profile of companies, sustainable practices that companies adopt, as well as its benefits and difficulties of application. As a result, it was realized that the industry still has a lot to improve in regards to environmental consciousness, requiring improvements in areas controlled by business and the tax agency.
