The solid waste management has emerged as one of the greatest challenges of modern society. The Federal Government, through the National Policy on Solid Waste (PNRS), has sought to share with other federal entities responsible for the planning of local public policies, so fitting to municipal managers, the responsibility for the conduct of the municipality in the environmental field . The study aims to understand the Solid Waste Management in the districts of West Cariri of Paraíba. This region has been an area where PNRS failed its full operationalization, since the presence of the dumps in the cities and the absence of Municipal Solid Waste Plan to put in a race against time in order to achieve the goals proposed by PNRS 2014. Research is exploratory and descriptive characteristics, using data supplied by the very halls and data available on specialized sites on the topic. Faced with the reality found, it was concluded that the solid waste management in West Cariri of Paraíba, have shown inefficient and there is need for urgent implementation of improvements in this area, requiring managers to understand that the environment is so important as education or health to municipalities.
