Resumo:
Education must be understood in its dynamic and singular sense, for the fulfillment of its
objectives, especially regarding the teaching of the Portuguese Language. Working education,
essentially the practice of reading and writing as social practice, is a strategy by which the
student is removed from the passive character of the comfort zone and instils in the practical
use of what is learned. In this way, the work with literacy from the use of the journalistic
genre is able to promote in the student the development of the cognitive ability to use reading
in relation to its social function, that is, the literacy itself. In this perspective, the main
objective of this work was to identify the use of the journalistic genre in High School of a
state school in the municipality of. And as specific objectives: to understand the perspective
of using journalistic genre in High School; Evaluate the use of gender in its function; And to
analyze the journalistic genre in the perspective of literacy. And, through a descriptive and
exploratory research, with a qualitative and quantitative approach of the data and also of the
field and observational that the necessity of revisiting the pedagogical and methodological
assumptions of the teaching of the Portuguese Language and Literature was verified, so that,
without the Capacity for literacy, the student becomes unable to understand what is going on
around him and especially loses his reflective capacity, becoming uncritical and unable to
positively influence social improvements.
