Abstract:
This work presents a survey on the educational scope focusing on teaching science
in elementary education in the municipality of Serra Branca, highlighting the
Caatinga, analyzing the conceptions of science teachers about this biome that covers
the region in which the city is entered.Thus, this work aims at identifying and
analyzing the conceptions of science teachers of elementary schools that operate in
the municipality of Serra Branca about the Caatinga region in which the city is
entered. The survey was used assumptions of qualitative research, using the method
of Phenomenological Research, in that in the first phase was carried out a review of
literature on the evolution of science education and the formation of the science
teacher, and definitions for the concept of the Caatinga, with fieldwork conducted in
schools: school middle and high school State Senator Jose Gaudentius and
Municipal school Canon Joao Marques Pereira. During the conduct of field research,
was used the following data collection techniques to semi-structured interviews with
application of questionnaires to teachers. This research on the design of science
teachers in relation to the Caatinga, in addition to checking the knowledge these
teachers on the biome, also will serve, although implicitly, to analyze the ability of
these professionals for a new vision of teaching about the Caatinga, destroying (pre)
concepts of Caatinga and heading towards a Contextualised Education for
Coexistence with the Brazilian Semi-arid.
