Resumo:
Perception it's a strategy which allows us to identify concepts, values, procedures,
and attitudes the subjects, with the environment and with himself, inferences about
local reality and the subjects conceive and engage with social, cultural and
environmental issues, which favors the representation of the region as a poverty
area, misery and unproductiveness. The main goal of this research is to investigate
the perceptions of the students of the 9th grade of the Public Schools of Vieirópolis-
PB on the Caatinga Biome and its interrelation with contextualized education and for
living with the semi-arid. For the accomplishment of the work, a qualitative approach,
with emphasis on the case study, with the data/results obtained through structured
questionnaires and analyzed through the technique of content analysis. The results
indicated that the students present a limited and fragmented view of the Biome
Caatinga and its specificities, which refers to a teaching unrelated to the reality. In
order to transform this reality, municipal schools canor should develop strategies that
seek the development of an education contextualized and for living with the semi-arid
region, taking into account the presented by the students, so that they are
disseminators of the the cultural, environmental and social potential of this territory.
