Abstract:
In this study sought up to characterize the profile of the public school principal on current days from the challenge faced by management acting, aiming to identify subsidies for conceptions and/or argumentations related to existent competencies on good manager profile. The locus of study were three public schools in the Alto Sertão of Paraiba. the research was realized through bibliographic studies, justifying concepts and bases knowledge about management, public policy, structural demand of the management at public school and competences related to the good profile of the school manager, also by contributions of some authors as Paro (2010, 2009, 2007), Saviani (2005,1996), Freire (2006, 1997), Peréz Goméz (2000), and others. This study was sent also with field research by semi structured interview and observation with (03) three public school managers. The approach used in the study was quali-quantitative to prioritize the quality of respondents with purpose of justify the speeches and the listing mechanisms of the find of these studies. The results show, mainly that is of fundamental importance an appropriate training and a systematic process of continuing education for school management execution thinking about the big practical difficulties that the managers face to undertake a democratic-participative management and that the manager profile - front of the educational dilemmas – doesn’t satisfy all the demands in the ambit pedagogical, administrative, politic and social to the confront these dilemmas.
