Resumen:
This paper, titled "teaching quality in the public school" was aimed at knowing the
quality of public education provided by a state school in Santa Helena city - PB, the
objective of this knowledge tends towards a committed and articulated learning with
the institution´s objectives as well as for the purposes of the public school. This
paper is composed by a qualitative study, which approaches a bibliographical and
documentary survey as a means of research. This study uses semi-structured
interviews and observation as a qualified technique for a better result, this paper was
based on Libâneo (2012), Pimenta (1993), Paro (2007), among other theorists. This
academic work was developed through a field research conducted with the director,
the pedagogical coordinator and the teacher of a state school in Santa Helena city -
PB. Therefore, the research revealed that the quality of teaching in the public school
is directly linked to school management, through democratic administrative structures
that build an interaction between school and society aiming the teaching quality, and
that the process of improving of teaching and learning should be collectively
constituted from the school Political Pedagogical Project (PPP). The research also
pointed out as the most difficulty for the achievement of teaching quality in the school
the divergent views of people involved in the research about quality and the low
participation of families and community in the projects of the educational institution.
