Abstract:
The purpose of this research was to obtain a case study on the level of stress and its causes among employees at a bank office in Campina Grande - PB. First, we attempted to explain what is stress, its phases and its causes at workplace, and then to approach relationship between disease and bank work. The research made use of Lipp Questionnaire, to which answered a total of twenty-six employees of the institution, and also made a survey relating socio-demographic information. The research aims to comprehend the causes and factors that lead such employees to develop stress. After data collection, we analyzed and discussed it in order to draw a profile of employees. We realize that there are many internal and external factors that trigger stress, and, according to the questionnaire, there is a considerable percentage of interviewed employees with features that fit into the various stages of stress. Thence it follows that is necessary a discussion about the importance of treating and preventing this psychosomatic illness, that negatively affect the personal and professional lives of these employees. In extreme cases of employees physical and mental exhaustion, figures the importance of clarifying what the Burnout Syndrome is, its possibilities of occurrence and its consequences in workers personal and professional life.
