Résumé:
The rural settlements are social phenomenon that develops inside of them ones a movement over time in a processes way and, therefore, can not be defined only as a social space resulted of social struggles and intervention from state. On the other hand, should be understood as a social process that generates and it is resulting from countless social figurations in constant transformation. The changes related to settlements policy derive from changes in the forces correlation or, in the sense that is proposed by Elias (2006), the interconnections between different social actors involved - workers and rural workers, government, social movements, rural entrepreneurs, non-governmental organizations, among others. Consequently, the relations and actions interdependent between these actors involved in the politics of rural
settlements can generate processes that in long-term result in effects not predicted, not planned. Starting from these assumptions, this work aims to describe the social trajectory of Rendeira settlement, localized in the rural area of Alagoas - which was recently incorporated into the Settlements Recuperation Program - and thus to analyze the change processes in this social area resulting of public policies implementation (credit policy, habitation, technical assistance, education, among others).
