Práticas disciplinares e espiritualidade: uma etnografia sobre a juventude assembleiana de Monteiro-PB.

Abstract

The present work intends to approach how the socialization process of the young evangelicals of the Church Assembly of God Missions, as well as the bonds created between these young people happens. Having as a population analyzed, the youths belonging to the group “Sparks of Faith” in the Assembly of God Missions Church in Monteiro-PB. The development of this research took place from bibliographical research on the theme youth and religion, addressing the first studies on youth in Brazil and the transformation caused by religion in their lives. Together with the data from the field research conducted at the above mentioned institution, the objective was to analyze how the socialization process happens through the bonds formed by these young people. Identifying the difficulties encountered by young people in this process, showing the importance that spiritual leaders represent in their lives and demonstrating the importance that religion has in their formation. The research was qualitative, with techniques of discourse analysis of the subject aided by the interview script instrument. To conduct the research, 9 interlocutors were chosen, divided into 3 groups according to the length of stay in the set “Sparks of Faith”, they answered 16 discursive questions, which were then analyzed. The analysis shows us that both the leadership and the Church Institution play an important role in the lives of young people, because it is through them that these young people have had their lives transformed.
