Résumé:
The aim of this research is to analyze the sociocultural and educational implications of black
issues in academic spaces. It takes as reference, the experience of five black students of the
Federal University of Campina Grande (UFCG), Câmpus of Cajazeiras / PB. The study is an
ethnographic research, in order to provide an immersion in the experiences of these subjects
in academic spaces. To do so, it uses investigative procedures such as participant observation
and semi-structured interviews. The research results point out that the university constitutes a
contradictory institution, where the persistence of racist and discriminatory practices coexists
with a limited, but important, fomentation of the discussions about the ethnic-racial theme in
the formal curriculum. The university also appears as a relevant space in the life of black
university students, since, through "tactics" of group identity and identity affirmation, (re)
signify their academic daily life, based on affirmative policies of exaltation and black
resistance.
