Abstract:
The aim of this study was to measure the feet of the urban female population of Campina Grande-PB making use of anthropometric techniques as well as to compare these measures with the NBR 15159: 2013 to understand the relationship between the influence of the perimeter of the metatarsals under the comfort of shoes. To conduct this investigation, methodological procedures such as bibliographic research and survey were adopted under a study with applied nature and mixed approach. The sample was defined by probabilistic statistics, com posed of 408 women between their 15 and 44 years old, long-term or short-term residents of Campina Grande-PB. The results revealed differences between the dimensions of the right and the left foot and also identified a divergence between the metatarsal per imeter measures when compared with the Brazilian standard. These differences are reflected in the discomfort when wearing the shoes, and in the emergence of anomalies and deformities of the feet such as
calluses and blisters.
