Resumen:
This research tries to reflect about the society of Campina Grande in the XX century first
decades, by the cinematography and the changes introduction that it has provided. In this
study it was used as a theoretical reference, historical, social and cultural lessons, discussing
concepts as modernity, tradition and socio-cultural practices. This research is centered on
different printed sources, as epoch newspapers and magazines, advertisements, memorial
books and chronicles from Paraiba authors. Moreover, it has been investigated how the
population conceived the movies in several ways, however in the same way those who
considered the invention a symbol of modernity there were also those who had seen it as a
traditionalistic society evil. It was essential to study how many visitors had not simply
attended the films using the exhibition rooms for very unusual ends, which demonstrated us
that these exhibition places were full possibilities. Furthermore, it was also searched how
those films has directed population habits by a powerful advertising machine that developed
enough in the attempt of attracting more and more passionate beholders to the world's
screens. Therefore, Campina Grande has been the stage of several changes in its traditional
daily and one of the responsible for those changes was the cinematography installation arrival
that has integrated the society, as a new era symbol by the world's modern equipment
innovations influence all systems of values, promoting citizens new lifestyle, an event that
resized city's cultural universe.
