Resumo:
This research aims to investigate teaching practices in detriment of racial discrimination in
classroom, addressing discriminatory practices in this very same context, as well as describing
teaching actions in exploring such phenomenon. Racism in school is a phenomenon that has
been already debated before, but the study of causes, dynamics and consequences lies
between methodological and theoretical obstacles. Thus, this study provides an analysis that
contributes to teaching regarding the effectiveness of the proposal to combat racism. To
accomplish this work, a bibliographical investigation was carried out followed by a field
research, using semi-structured interview, with data analyzed through the content analysis of
Bardin. The analysis of the data collected allowed the organization of the chapters into three
categories: Difficulties and potentialities; Teaching performance; Perception of the
phenomenon in the classroom. Therefore, this study provides new insights into the issue of
the black child in the classroom, as an accurate study of racial discrimination as a recurring
phenomenon in school context, neglected or ignored, showing that the professional
performance is still poorly targeted to make a concrete contribution to black children lives.
