Resumen:
In order to see how the company manages its production capacity to support the demand of
the market, this study discusses the various types of production systems and their
classifications based on the vision of leading scholars in the subject. Then concepts of demand
and capacity are described distinguing what is capacity of project and effective capacity of an
operation, and also the possible losses suffered by a system classifying them in planned and
unplanned. By addressing issues involving capacity of any organization, was chosen in
achieving a diagnosis, which makes the identification of the causes of loss of production
(actual capacity) throughout the production process of the company Duraplast Industry and
Commerce Ltda, an industry and manufacturer of injected products, using materials such as
poly vinyl chloride (PVC), thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) to polypropylene (PP) and
polyethylene (PE). In the case study was used a script on the management capacity to define
the steps of the research, wich served as a tool for collecting information, being used direct
observation, interviews and consultations literature. The main results obtained in the research
were able to identify the type of pattern of demand served by the company, the type of policy
adopted in capacity and the main loss of capacity in the system.
