Abstract:
Currently the growth of the tourism sector has considerably increased demand for the services of the hotel. This growth taking into account the negative effects to the environment needs to be promoted in a planned and sustainable. The use of environmental practices emerges as a measure of preservation and reduction of negative environmental impacts caused. Thus, the aim of this study was to identify the use of environmental practices for the hospitality segment, therefore, we conducted a case study Verdegreen Hotel in the city of João Pessoa. The study is characterized as exploratory and descriptive data collection was through interviews carried out with the department responsible for the sustainability of the Hotel. The data analysis was qualitative approach. The research result shows that the Hotel Verdegreen considers the vast majority of environmental aspects related to the activities of a hotel (reception, laundry, conzinha, restaurant / bar and others) for the use of environmental practices. Thus presents the adoption of various practices that provide the reduction of negative environmental impacts caused. A comparison made with the proposed environmental Accor Hotels reveals the use of 59 environmental practices by Hotel Verdegreen among the 65 actions set out by the group. It was also possible to verify trouble inserting some practices, such as the need for awareness of employees, paperwork for environmental compliance and lack of qualified suppliers for the supply of inputs.
