Resumen:
Social innovation has long been discussed. This concept along the years gained many meanings which are not disharmonious but similar and complementary. Social innovation is a new response to a social problem through more effective, efficient and sustainable solutions than existing ones. These solutions can meet needs such as health, education, and infrastructure to generate value that benefits the whole society and not just some people. In this line, the present research seeks to identify the stages social innovation process in the Liter of Light to relate them to the Stages of Social Innovation proposed by Murray et al. (2010). A basic, qualitative and exploratory study was performed. Data collection was through the interview with volunteers that working on the project. Findings showed that many challenges are imposed on the volunteers of the Liter, but with the help of the beneficiaries and the partners who contribute to the actions to be executed, these challenges are overcome. Concerning Murray et al. (2010) stages, the Liter of Light project in Brazil, contemplates the six stages of Social Innovation previously defined by these authors.
