Resumo:
Given the complexity involved in the organizational environment , managers need to
articulate their thinking and solve problems for organizations to be more competitive and able
to respond to the caused changes in the organizational environment . In this sense, this study
aims to identify how managers make decisions through reason or intuition in environments of
uncertainty. This is a descriptive study conducted in the form of case study , which analyzes
the characteristics as to how decision-making and decision-making styles that managers use in
the organizational environment through research instruments proposed by Guimarães (2005 ) .
The results showed that managers of Supermarket Chain CompreMais demonstrated not know
deeply the dimensions of the external environment and influences that may result in their
decisions, which is the main concern of this study, it was found that the biggest challenge for
managers in organizations is to determine the level of uncertainty at which they should be
prepared to take these risks into their decision making.
