Resumen:
It is true that over the centuries, man has degraded enough to Planet Earth and the
consequences are already felt for several decades, the advance of serious environmental
problems. The conditions of life on Earth depends on the relationship between society and
nature. In this sense, this research addresses some aspects of consumer society and
sustainability issues that are at stake today. The research was aimed at analyzing the behavior
of consumers faced with questions of sustainability taking into account its influence on the
market and your profile will determine which class of consumers belong. The sample of
consumers was used teachers at the Federal University of Campina Grande that make up the
Center for Humanities. The methodology used was to conduct a search for exploratory and
descriptive, consisting of a literature review on the subject in question and a search field. The
data collection was used to the TCC- test conscious consumption of Akatu Institute and is an
adapted questionnaire which has been some consumption behaviors developed by researchers.
After analyzing the behaviors adopted was possible to reach the classification of the total
sample. Most of them are in the group of consumers of the type engaged, that is, demonstrate
a good level of awareness of the collective impacts of long-term spending decisions showing
that they are adhering to certain practices of conscious consumption, even at the slow pace,
making efforts to reduce consumption of products made with scarce natural resources. It is
worth noting that this classification is related to the degree of awareness of each consumer
interviewed.
