Resumen:
The growth of cities was accompanied by some problems that causing environmental damage such as flooding and erosion and increasing solid waste reservoir sedimentation water pollution and changes in local or regional climate. The changes in natural cities landscape when together the pollution it results in increased temperature thus causing great discomfort and heat generating the Urban heat Islands (UHI). Then give up the need to study urban sprawl of some municipalities. Therefore the main aim of this work is investigate the impacts and changes in land use or land cover in the city of Manaus in the period about 1990-2009 on the temperature and the spatial pattern of potential UHI. Using satellite images about the years 1990, 1997, 2003 and 2009, to obtain the surface temperature. The quantification of the areas was taken from the supervised classification. Still air temperature data from a weather station INMET were used. And indices as NDVI, NDWI, and NDBI NDBaI. To analyze the relationships between the indices and the temperature scatter plots were generated. It was found that in 1990 there were more vegetation period. The urban area growth from 17.87% in 1990 to 25.20% in 2009 and was confirmed that the year 2009 had high values of temperature for the studied images. The centers of high temperature were consistent with the urban area. The lower temperatures were in the water class.
