In this study, we seek to understand and analyze the concepts of early childhood education teachers on the contributions of playfulness to the development of the child and check the use of playfulness in the pedagogical practice of teachers of early childhood education. The participants were five teachers of two public schools of Early Childhood Education City Sousa- PB. The study was developed through a literature search based on the theoretical contributions of authors such as Rau (2011), Alves (2009), Oliveira (2008), among others, discussing playfulness. To collect the information necessary to investigate the object of study, used as a procedure, a questionnaire containing seven questions to obtain the socio demographic data and a questionnaire with six questions to heed the goals of this research. The results showed that teachers in the various reported cases conceive playfulness as essential for the development of the child and who is or should be present in the different situations of early childhood education.
