Abstract:
This work aims to use Mathematical Modeling in the teaching of Differential and Integral Calculus, in particular, in the study of Definite Integrals. A bibliographic study on the history of calculus, the importance of Mathematical Modeling in teaching, some concepts on Calculus of Definite Integral and their applications in the calculation of volume and surface area of solids of revolution. In this sense, alternative methodologies are used to obtain results along with the mathematical modeling, where it occurred in the evolution of mathematical concepts used to calculate the volume and surface area of a fruit (orange). In the obtained results, we can see that the margin of error found is very small.
