Resumo:
Because of the importance that the Institutional Program of Initiation to Teaching (PIBID) has acquired since its implementation by CAPES in 2007, in higher education institutions, with the purpose to stimulate and valorize the initial teacher training, and to enable improvements in the teaching and learning process of the basic education public schools, this study sought to understand the importance of the program and its implications for the initial academic qualification of the Geography teachers. Therefore, the analysis undertaken here was through the use of questionnaires to the scholarship holders of the Geography PIBID subproject at the CFP surroundings, as well as interviews with the supervisor and the coordinator this subproject. In addition to these procedures, we obtained reports from public documents about the PIBID, such as the ordinance number 096 of July 18, 2013, which comments about the program's regulations, the institutional project PIBID of the Federal University of Campina Grande (UFCG) and the Geography PIBID subproject of the Teachers Training Centre of the UFCG. Adding to these documents, we also conduct literature searches related to public policies for teacher training in Brazil, as well as PIBID contributions for initial academic qualification of the teachers. In dialoguing with the results, we understood that the program contributes significantly to the formation of scholarship holders of the initiation to teaching in Geography, as it allows the partnership between the university and elementary school, favoring the contact of undergraduates with the their future working environments. Thus, through this integration, the ID fellowship holders have the opportunity to practice many theoretical knowledges acquired during their studies.
