Abstract

This work has as its theme the Thermal Tourism in the Brejo das Freiras Thermal Spa-PB, in this research the thermal water is analyzed for its tourist use. The main objective of this study was to analyze and understand the development of Thermal Tourism in Brejo das Freiras Thermal Spa - PB, from its genesis to the present day. Initially the study consisted of bibliographic research through which it was possible to substantiate the work through authors who address the theme, then a field study was conducted with observation of the study area, informal conversations and data collection. The information collected at this stage provided the necessary subsidies for the work development. From the results of this investigation it can be concluded that the Brejo das Freiras Spa developed from the use of its thermal waters initially used in a healing slope, later this space was consolidated as a place of healing and tourism. The results of the analysis also show that the place has a great tourist potential, however, currently needs investments with regard to physical infrastructure and other aspects, these improvements may reflect a greater demand from tourists coming to the Spa. Brejo das Freiras is once again a major tourist attraction as it was in past times.
