Resumo:
This research introduced with a reflection on the need that humanity has for water, as well as speaks of the relationship of man with the formation of space by its settlement near the great rivers and this relationship also in the northeastern semiarid. This paper aims to verify the environmental and socioeconomic impacts that are caused by leisure activities on the banks of the Piranhas river in the city of Paulista PB, in a resort known as "Rio da Ponte" ,. The methodological procedures used so that the research could reach the proposed objectives were as follows: Field observation and bibliographic research. The present work is also a deductive research, having taken from the general knowledge of the subject and finalize in the analysis of the object under study. The results achieved were as follows: observation of siltation of the riverbed caused by the construction of tents within the river channel; water pollution by disposable materials thrown directly into river water; confirmation of the removal of the riparian forest to make landfills to serve as vehicle parking; sandbar removal; Finding sewage thrown untreated into the river. All these impacts were recorded by photographs and inserted in the work. The final considerations reflect on how natural resources are being treated, especially water
