Resumen:
Antimicrobials are substances that have the ability to eliminate microorganisms or inhibit their growth. The growing misuse of medicines has become a serious public health problem in the world. The objective of the present study was to evaluate the prescription and dispensing of antimicrobial drugs of the users served at the basic pharmacy of the city of Cuité-PB, as well as verify the adequacy of the revenues to the current legislation (RDC No. 20/2011 - ANVISA). This study corresponds to a cross-sectional, quantitative-qualitative and descriptive study. Data from the survey were collected between October and November 2017, using questionnaires. 120 users were evaluated. Prevalence of female sex (80%) was observed. The prevailing age range was between 31 and 60 years (57.5%), followed by users with 18 to 30 years (36.7%). The most widely used antimicrobials were cephalexin (32.5%) and metronidazole (23.6%). Regarding the prescriptions and the correct filling, it was found that 26.7% presented nonconformities, the main one being the absence of treatment time (88.6%). Finally, it was observed the need to sensitize prescribers to rational use, as well as the need for guidance from the pharmacist in conjunction with users.
