Abstract:
Biological evolution is seen as a fundamental content within biological sciences,
since their understanding is indispensable for understanding a series of other
contents, such as Biodiversity, among many other biological themes and
processes. The study of the Evolution theme is very relevant for students of all
grades, especially those in high school, since this content is the basis for
several others. Even so, this content does not receive due merit in the high
school syllabus, which may lead the student to think that such a topic is not
relevant to their formation, Which is a misconception. Scoring the principles
inherent to biological evolution as indispensable for the understanding of
biological sciences, as well as the difficulties found in the literature of the area,
that surround their teaching and learning, The objective of this study is to
investigate the difficulties of the, emphasize the relevance of the content theory
of biological evolution and identify which personal conceptions of teachers on
the subject, in the school curriculum of high school students in schools in
Paraíba and Rio Grande do Norte, making a quantitative and qualitative
analysis through the application of questionnaires with high school teachers.
The results obtained evidenced the lack that the teachers present of this theme,
since the textbook itself offered by the schools has limited content, thus, it is
necessary to seek other didactic resources. The research, expose the deficit in
the development of the subject Biological Evolution in high school and portrayed
some strategies used by teachers to bypass the shortage of didactic resources.
