Violence against women is a term that emerged around 1970, through the feminist movement, which alleged that violent action was justified to make the victim belong to the female and therefore were subordinated by men. This term can be defined as an action committed against a woman who compromises her physical, psychological and sexual integrity and which can cause even death. It can also happen through threats or deprivation of liberty. In the city of Cajazeiras-PB, it was observed for a time the increase in the number of cases of violence and their considerable amount, leading us to consider carrying out the research to study the profile of the victim, the aggressor and the violence. Thus, this study aimed to explore the characteristics of cases of violence against women in the city of Cajazeiras-PB. This is a descriptive and documental research, with a quantitative approach, carried out at the Reference Center for Women's Assistance (CRAM) and the Specialized Police Department for Women's Care (DEAM), located in the city of Cajazeiras, state of Paraíba. The population of this study is composed by the documentary records of women victims of violence who received assistance in one of these services from January to December 2018. Data collection was based on a script prepared by the researcher, based on the forms of each institution and the discussion based on the findings of the literature. All items set forth in Resolution 466, of December 12, 2012, of the National Health Council, which regulates research with human beings, were obeyed. Based on the results, we observed that the profile of the victim is of a woman between 20 and 29 years old, brown, with fundamental incomplete, most are domestic. The most common type of violence was psychological, with humiliation as the main way of assaulting women. The aggressor has an age group between 20 and 29 years old, fundamentally incomplete, usually the companion of the victim, has as main occupation mason / servant and having as a great influence of the violence the use of drugs between 20% of the men. Therefore, this study came as a means to show the importance of knowing each variable of violence and its particularities, understanding that it is through this recognition that the diagnosis, treatment and prevention strategy will be elaborated and implemented with satisfactory results.
