Abstract:
In recent years, violence against homosexuals has increased dramatically. Nowadays, not
Brazil, it is possible to observe a process of changes, without qualities as affective relations
between people of the same sex gained more visibility and have been causing great repercussion
among a population. In this context, the objective of this study was to characterize the violence
suffered by Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transvestite and Transsexual, in the region of the Paraíba
curimeter. This is a qualitative research of the descriptive, exploratory type, the material
collected through the interviews, held in the city of Cuité-PB, where 10 participants were
interviewed, Group For Free Sexual Orientation, as interviews with transcribed and analyzed
more according to Laurence Bardin's content analysis technique: 1-pre-analysis, 2-exploration
of the material and 3 content analysis process, from which the category originates: From school
to work: Violence present at different times and spaces. The research data are the results found
in all genera in the Curimataú region of Paraíba, since they were not found. Strategies of
violence varied by the LGBT population in this region. The results of this research are a major
cause of psychic problems, critical, intrafamily and physical violence, being as patrimonial and
marital violence, also causing mental problems, but not reported research in more detail. This
research also states that psychic problems such as depression, anxiety, mutilations, suicidal
thoughts / suicide are serious mental disorders, to which they arise, after victims suffer violence.
