Resumo:
Damage Reduction (RD) is a set of policies and practices that have objective to reduce the
damages associated with the use of psychoactive substances in people who can't or don't they
opt for abstinence. Faced with the inclusion of this policy in the integral attention to users of
Alcohol and other Drugs. In this perspective, this study was had as general objective to analyze
the conception of health professionals of centers of psychosocial attention of alcohol and drugs
on the policy of damage Reduction. The methodological assumptions of this study were
anchored in the quantitative-qualitative approach of the exploratory-descriptive type. For the
lifting data and extraction of the empirical material an interview script of the semistructured
type was used. The qualitative data obtained were presented in the form of frames in the light
of the Discourse of the Collective Subject and the quantitative data were presented in the form
of tables. The results expressed that despite the inclusion of DR as a public health measure for
health promotion and prevention of diseases, there's still a lack related to the implementation
and conception of the theme, however they understand politics and its strategies as a effective
measure of care, when considering the individual and it’s singularity, particularity and
autonomy and as protagonist of the construction of his care. The study indicates that despite the
advances achieved and the recognition that the DR currently had attained, there' s still a lot of
that advance to be made to include effectively damage Reduction Programs as a form of to
carefull. It's hoped that this study may be a tool an awareness for managers, professionals and
students on the applicability of these strategies, highlighting their importance as a new model
of the care attention of a humanized care that promotes better quality of life and access to
services and information of the health the users of alcohol and drug.
