Resumo:
Contraception is the use of methods and techniques for the purpose of preventing sexual intercourse from resulting in pregnancy. There are several types of reversible contraceptive methods that are divided into barrier methods, behavioral methods, intrauterine device and hormonal methods. These methods have, at the same time, barred the meeting of the male and female gametes. If their use is incorrect, it could cause harm to the woman's health, so knowledge about contraceptive methods is important, favoring even a healthier woman's life condition . The objective of this study was to demonstrate the power that each contraceptive method can offer to each person, clarifying the possible doubts, in order to guarantee a better adherence and a therapeutic efficacy. The literature review was carried out systematically, based on reliable data and national and international health committees, with articles, monographs, dissertations and theses, of safe information portals, published in the last ten years, on contraceptive methods. The following search terms will be used in various combinations: 1) contraceptive methods; 2) contraceptives; 3) contraception.
