The use of drugs by the vast majority of the population, especially for the treatment of diseases of the cardiovascular system is a major concern worldwide. In this context, it is observed that the change in lifestyle and the consumption of foods that are increasingly high in fat can cause short-term and long-term functional losses. Simvastatin is the drug of choice for the large proportion of prescribers and consequently great use by the population, act in the reduction of cholesterol levels in the body and enabling the reduction of cardiovascular diseases. The quality control is of fundamental importance to guarantee the safety and quality of the product, through tests based on the legislation adopted. The aim of the present study was to evaluate the quality of the simvastatin tablets marketed in the form of tablets of three national brands marketed in pharmacies through physical-chemical quality control tests: mean weight, disintegration, assay and content uniformity. It was observed after the tests that in all parameters the samples were in accordance with the official compendium. Thus, it was observed that the production process of these drugs met all minimum quality requirements, contributing to the most effective and effective treatment.
