This study aims to discuss the importance and contributions of the Scholarship Program of Initiation to Teaching (PIBID) for academic and professional training of Professor of Portuguese, here specifically of Full Degree in Letters - Portuguese Center Language Teacher Training (CFP) of the Federal University of Campina Grande (UFCG) Câmpus of Cajazeiras - PB. Specifically, we seek to present, through theoretical foundations, the importance of initial and continuing training, especially Professor of Portuguese Language. The idea of defining this subject for our research is due to the experiences lived as fellows of that project that has given us experience the reality of the classroom, leading to her our contributions as students in an attempt to improve and situate our academic experiences at the same time contribuíamos with the improvement of basic education in public schools. The dialogue between school and university allowed us to reflect on the current situation of the classroom in relation to Portuguese classes in the same way to develop new perspectives for education. Our research is bibliographic nature with a qualitative approach. The theoretical bases consulted guided to the importance of initial and continuing training. Therefore it highlights the work of: Light (2010) on teacher training Portuguese, Imbernon on continuing education of teachers (2010), Oliveira (2010) on the knowledge necessary to Portuguese teacher, among others. We note that the PIBID contributes both to the enhancement of teacher training in the stages of initial training and in the continuous training.
