Resumen:
This work about "Democratic management at school: dilemmas and possibilities" has as object of the study precisely the democratic management sought at school, through teams that bring, in the basis of school organization processes, educational actions in the direction of the sensitization to the participation in the pedagogical work through decision-making that were increasingly expanded. The main objective of this work was to analyze the political-administrative conditions of school organization for the construction of democratic management. As issue of research, this production incurred by the question: How does democratic management at public school contribute to the qualification of student behaviors bearing in mind socialization and democratization processes of its students in their social relations beyond school? As main categories of foundation, this study was structured from the concept of democracy and its influence to the Kelsen’s society (2000); participation and decentralization of school management in Paro (2006) and the interdisciplinary teaching to citizenship through the classroom in Hora (1994). The empirical part of this study was realized through qualitative approach, in which data collection used the semi-structured interview and the data collected by it. Observation was also a technique used in data collection. The treatment of the data occurred by simple categorization of recurrent terms, which also allowed to know the school reality regarding the object of this production. The main findings of this study were instituted by the fact that school teams need to be better trained to understand and to know how live the democratic management; that management is the main link of this training and it is through co-management that this training will be consolidated in the school context. It demonstrates, with evidence, that the school have many pedagogical-administrative challenges about the pedagogical work organization to be faced in favor of democratic management. Fundamentally, through the implementation of this type of management is that teaching, aiming at citizenship, can articulate democratic relations from the teaching-learning process, aiming at democratization on the basis of our objective conditions of life.
