Burnout is an English word that refers to something that stopped working because of exhaustion. It is a problem that affects service professionals, especially those focused on caring for others. Emotional exhaustion is characterized by the lack or lack of energy, enthusiasm and feelings of resource depletion. Workers believe they are no longer able to spend more energy to care for their client or others as they did before. In view of this, there has been a significant growth in the academic environment among teaching professionals. In view of this, there has been a significant growth in the academic environment among teaching professionals. This is because the reality of this professional can be affected due to the overload of activity that he exerts. The objective of this study was to evaluate the risk behavior for the development of Burnout syndrome in teachers of the Federal University of Campina Grande - Campus de Cuité - PB. This was an epidemiological, descriptive, cross-sectional study with a quantitative approach. The study population comprised 55 teachers. Data collection was carried out for four weeks in the rooms of the aforementioned professors and asking the teacher for permission to fill out the questionnaire. The data were treated in the statistical program Statistical Package for the Social Sciences version 23.0, made comparisons between sex or between the variables likely to develop the syndrome and no risk of developing the syndrome. As results and discussions, we obtained the following data: Socio-demographic data analysis and the preliminary questionnaire to identify burnout. It was found that there is a higher prevalence of Burnout syndrome among male teachers, married, between the ages of 30 and 39 years, with the syndrome being more common among those who are already 10 years or older in the profession, acting with dedication of 40 hours per week, the score was found through the questionnaire ranging from 41 to 60. At the conclusion of the research, it was possible to conclude that: All the teachers who were evaluated presented on average some degree of impairment of the health, perceived subjectively. Be it as a possibility to develop, or in degree of impairment of Burnout syndrome already established. Thus, it is recommended to carry out new studies, including new variables that may increase the explanatory power of this syndrome, which has shown important implications for the mental health of teachers.
