Résumé:
Pressure injury (LP) is a chronic wound that represents a considerable global health problem of frequent recurrence and conceives a relevant source of pain and distress for those who develop it. Objective: To analyze nurses' knowledge about LP by applying the Pieper Knowledge Test. Methods: Exploratory, descriptive research with a quantitative approach. It was carried out in the hospital school, located in the city of Campina Grande, PB. The information was obtained through the application of a validated instrument in Brazil, divided into two parts, the first presents the sociodemographic data of the nurses, contemplating professional information and the second part of the instrument used was elaborated by Pieper and Mott, this instrument of collection of data has 41 questions related to Nurses' knowledge about Pressure Injury. The data were analyzed in a descriptive way. Results: The overall mean score was 74.4%, below the score established by Pieper and Mott (1995), which is 90% correct for the questionnaire. Nurses' knowledge deficit on the subject was evidenced in relation to the prevention, staging and evaluation of LPs and the knowledge relation with the care provided. A disturbing reality is inferred, since these findings point out that LP knowledge is directly related to patient safety and the quality of care provided. Conclusion: The nurse needs a thorough knowledge in the evaluation, staging and prevention of injuries, to offer a quality care, efficient and resulting in beneficial for the patient.
