Résumé:
The objective of this study was to analyze the Nursing performance in the prevention of complications of diabetes mellitus, from the point of view of nurses of the Family Health Strategy. This is an observational and descriptive study of a qualitative nature. We interviewed 05 nurses from the municipality of Jardim de Piranhas - RN during the months of June and September of 2018, using a semi-structured interview script. Data analysis was guided by the technique of Collective Subject Discourse proposed by Lefèvre and Lefèvre. The results indicate that nurses have limited knowledge about the complications of diabetes, and this fragility presupposes the possible impairment of the care provided. The nursing consultation is generic and sustained in the biomedical model, and the nursing process is neglected in all of its stages, although there is the perspective of network care. The education activities occur only on a monthly basis and the low adherence of users to nursing consultations was highlighted by nurses and is a strong determinant of link fragmentation. Nurses must overcome the challenge of including global patient care, health education programs, the development of unique therapeutic projects and the strengthening of the professional-user-family relationship in diabetes care programs.
