Resumen:
It is at home that the first emotional and social ties with the world begin. It is in her that live the first joys, sorrows and discord. Just like in our body, the house also has the cozy and comforting organ: the kitchen. Through her we hold Culinary Workshops as a more playful and pleasurable way of working on Food and Nutrition Education. Thus, this work aimed to understand the role of culinary workshops as a strategy for social construction of knowledge and practices in Food and Nutrition Education. The data were collected from the activities of the "Vida Nova" extension project, mediated by the students of the Center for Research and Extension in Nutrition and Public Health (Núcleo PENSO), held in the city of Cuité-PB. We chose a qualitative approach to research, an action research characteristic. The data of the research were analyzed using the participant observation technique, active listening and speech interpretation of those involved. The results found in the research were structured by meetings, which were guided by the Food Guide for the Brazilian Population and in addition to the recipes generated affective phrases related to these. Food as mediator of human relations and sociability. In this way, through writing, one can understand the possibility of discussing nutrition, human rights, citizenship and other issues of characteristics to the human condition through the potentialities of commensality and eating practices as mediators of dialogues.
