In this work , the mechanical properties of the composites(polyester resin
/jute, knitted and warped) were analysed in function of the architecture of the
fabric ,as well as the effect of the pos-cure treatment under the knitted cloths. For
obtaining the consistent values for all the elastic modules, it was applied the
mathematical methodology developed by Gommers. The results have showed that
the composites with knitted fabric have presented tensile strength and levels of
deformation lower than the polyester resin while elastic modulus were superior to
the matrix in all the analysed cases. The best properties were observed with a
content of 40% (weight) fibre. The composites reinforced whith the weave fabric,
have showed lower tensile strength in relation to the matrix in which the content of
fibre was 26% ( two layers of fabric) while those ones reinforced by 4 layers
(38%,weight ) have showed a higher tensile strength. In all cases the elastic
modulus was superior to the matrix and the deformation was lower. In general,
the composites reinforced with warped cloths have demonstrated superior
properties in relation to the composites reinforced with knitted cloths. Although the
latter ones showing more resistance to impact . Concerning the mathematical
methodology, the results obtained were quite consistent, coinciding the
experimental values with the theoretical ones. The following results for elastic
modulus were: Exx between 0,894 and 0,693 GPa; Eyy between 0,717 and 0,389
GPa; Exy between 3,314 and 2,564 GPa; and the shear module, G between 0,539
and 0,352 GPa.
