Résumé:
To investigate complications of surgical wounds in patients of a school hospital,
to describe their sociodemographic, clinical and therapeutic profile and to relate the factors
associated with their complicat ions. Materials and Methods: This is a documentaldescriptive study with a quantitative approach, with 359 medical records of patients submitted
to surgeries from June 2012 to August 2017, selected by simple random probabilistic
approach. The inclusion cr iteria were records that presented patients over 18 years of age,
describing the surgical wound, type of surgery and procedure used. Data were analyzed using
descriptive and inferential statistics. Results: Most were married, with incomplete elementary
education. Pre-and postoperative time less than one day and wounds classified as potentially
contaminated were more recurrent. Only preoperative and postoperative time were associated
with complications. Conclusion: The frequency of complications was 38.2%, among them,
pain was the most prevalent (33.1%). The factors associated with the presence of
complications were preoperative time with necrosis and pre and postoperative time with
infection, dehiscence, hemorrhage and pain. The lack of standardization in th e annotations
and the deficiency in the registries were some limitations found.
