Resumo:
This study aimed to describe the conceptions of teaching and learning of teachers of Escola Municipal de Ensino Fundamental Tancredo de Almeida Neves in
Cuité /PB to act in the first phase of basic education. The importance of studying the conceptions of teaching and learning for teachers lies in the fact that the understanding, we can understand how the process of education is built by a certain group. Before this, in november 2013, we conducted a survey of the twelve teachers of that school working with the first phase of basic education completed a carefully designed questionnaire containing open, closed and multiple-choice questions. Of the twelve teachers, only ten
agreed to participate and signed an informed consent. The responses were analyzed using the technique of content analysis of Bardin (1977). After analysis, we found that although teachers know some types of approaches used in the teaching and learning process in the literature, most opt to use the traditional approach, confirming that says Mizukami (1986 ) on education characterized as transmitting knowledge and restricted
to the action of the school.
