Abstract:
Teaching of Biology currently still limited to a lecture, with little attraction for students. Given this reality, the students have little interest in this area of knowledge that is so important to humanity. Currently, learning objects with its myriad forms of use have emerged as an interesting tool in the teaching and learning process. Considering this view, the aim of this study is to describe the reality of teaching biology, focusing on the use of virtual learning objects in the scene from High School of the EEEM Orlando Venâncio dos Santos, located in the municipality of Cuité - PB. The study was conducted during the period August to December 2013, the teachers of Biology and high school students on a weekly basis. The procedure adopted was based on semi -structured questionnaires, observation and survey of virtual learning objects that focus on the biological content. According to the observations made in the classroom, it can be seen that biology teachers of that school used textbooks as support for their classes most of the time. Two teachers stated that the virtual objects were part of its methodology, citing as examples the P3D program, virtual atlas on tablets, computer and data projector. Both the teachers and most students interviewed stated that classes involving alternative resources attract the attention of students, causing them to become involved in school and find it more pleasurable. Two virtual learning objects by teachers of Biology at this school, and later was also presented along with the students, who showed interest and enthusiasm for the lesson were presented. A handout containing some virtual learning objects has been compiled with the aim of joining efforts to improve the lessons taught to students. Data from this study reinforce the need to develop new works that are intended to enhance the teaching of biology in schools of Cuité- PB.
