Knowledge Management is closely related with individual abilities of collaborators, that is,
the more they are trained the more effective will be the use of organizational knowledge.
Therefore, organizations have started to invest in training and development programs, which deals mainly with the development of abilities that are essential to reach the organizational mission and its objectives. This work proposes a methodology for managing of the continued training in distributed organizations, based on the performance of abilities using clustering in order to group trainers and trainees for each course. It presents a methodology composed of a continuous cycle composed of the following phases: Analysis, Diagnosis, Planning, Preparation, Execution, Evaluation and Validation. The methodology is supported by a tool called AmbiForma, responsible for the tasks of: (1) identification of deficiencies and potentialities in training and development; (2) determination of the best ways of formation and optimization in association within trainers and trainees, reducing the cost with transport through the clustering algorithm considered, called AgrupaFormA; and (3) execution of formation when the modality is at distance. With a case study it was seen that just offering training and development programs is not enough, but it is also necessary to analyze and to diagnosis what, to who, for who, when, and where to train and to develop. Mainly in distributed organizations an adequate planning must reduce costs, prevent wastefulness and optimize the existing resources, principally in relation to displacement.
