Body dissatisfaction is understood as a negative feeling that the individual features in relation to your weight and body shape, affecting your self-esteem, and may lead the individual to the adoption of behaviors detrimental to health and, consequently, causing negative impacts on your nutritional status. The standards of beauty imposed by media and society make more and more people seek to control weight, becoming more dissatisfied and worried about the shape of their bodies. The aim of this study was to evaluate the self-perception of body image and verify your association with the nutritional status in university students of both sexes in the health of a federal University of municipality of Cuité-PB. This is a cross-sectional study, conducted with 377. Of this group, attended 125 nutrition, nursing graduates were 125 and 127 of pharmacy. For verification of the self-perception of body image the Body Shape Questionnaire (BSQ) in your validated version to a brazilian population of both sexes. Body mass and height autorrelatadas were used for the calculation of body mass index. Descriptive statistics inferential was held, and the Pearson Chi-square test to check Association between the variables of body dissatisfaction and nutritional status, using the statistical software SPSS for Windows and significance level adopted of < 5%. The results of this research showed a positive association between body dissatisfaction and the nutritional status of students (p < 0.05). At the same that was also identified a prevalence of 66.84% of normal nutritional status among the undergraduates of three courses and a portion of 14.06% for body dissatisfaction and 7.96% light to moderate degree, being the female the most struck by this situation. The knowledge of the association of these variables and the specifics of each sex is of great importance to the development of public health strategies and guidance for the young adult population. Research in order to better understand the association between body dissatisfaction and the nutritional state and your connection with the academics should be encouraged, since they become professionals subject to influence the collective.
