Abstract:
Social inequities are determinants that prevent the guarantee of integral access to health. In this context, gender inequality affects the access to health of the LGBT community. In this sense, the present study sought to investigate the dimensions of health care for the LGBT population in what concerns the management of SUS services in the city of Cuité-PB. Therefore, a qualitative methodology was adopted, through semi-structured interviews in depth, which were later transcribed and analyzed using the content analysis method. Initially the characterization of the managers according to their social affiliations was carried out, followed by the two empirical categories that emerged from the analysis: (1) "Gossip, confusion and shouting": divergences and disagreements about the LGBT population, divided into two subcategories that address the manager's view of the LGBT community and also their demands, respectively; and (2) Paths and deviations towards integral LGBT health: potentialities, fragilities and perspectives of the process, in turn, also subdivided between the accountability of managers and the identified strategies. The social determinants presented in the profile of managers can influence the task of recognizing and giving visibility to the demands of the LGBT population, they also do not perceive themselves as actors responsible for the care of these people, contributing to the fragility and disarticulation of the network of attention in what concerns to the LGBT community.
