Resumo:
This work is a result of a field research in dialogue with a bibliographical research referenced
in theoretical assumptions based on rural associativism and local development, having as a
imit analysis the Beneficent Rural Association of Terra Vermelha located in the rural area of
the municipality of Sume - PB. It emphasizes the importance of rural associations for the
strengthening of family farming. In this sense, the analyzed question is: What projects and
actions are developed in the Beneficent Rural Association of Terra Vermelha that imply
socioeconomic development and contribute to local development? In this way, we seek to
identify the projects and actions developed in the Association and their contribution to
socioeconomic progress and local development. For that, semi-structured interviews were
conducted with one of the board members, and a structured questionnaire was applied to the
associates. This work presents theoretical foundations related to the analysis of the researched
material from the reflections of authors that reflect the themes, associativism, local
development and solidarity economy. It seeks from an analysis of an associative experience of
family farmers to raise discussions about the role of rural association as a channel of
participation, communication and claims. Analyzes show us that the projects and actions
developed within the scope of the Association contribute to socioeconomic progress and local
development. On the other hand, when it comes to the relation of associativism to solidarity
economy, one can find principles of solidarity economy practiced in the Association
environment, and that there are principles that have already been established while others are
in the process of being built. It is hoped that this discussion can contribute to the formation of
a new consciousness based on collective actions in solidarity.
