Abstract:
According to the World Health Organization the use of medicinal plants for the treatment of diseases is one of the oldest practices of mankind and for this reason this therapy is used around the world, becoming important aspects of several traditional health systems . In developing countries, such as Brazil, 65% to 80% of the population depends exclusively on medicinal plants for basic health care. The search for services that offer Complementary Integrative Practices has been configured in a common habit in the country, especially regarding phytotherapy and medicinal plants, practices used to treat various health problems in primary care, especially in the Family Health Strategy. The approval of National Policy of of Integrative and Complementary Practices in Brazil in 2006 also triggered the approval of the National Policy of Medicinal and Phytotherapeutic Plants, with guidelines that seek to expand the supply of services and products related to phytotherapy in SUS, in a safe and rational way, by health professionals Qualified staff. However, the recommendation of herbal medicines seems to follow the same tendency of the medicinal plants evidenced in the literature. A study of the traditional uses of plants and their products in the northeastern region of Brazil has been increasing gradually since then. Considering the great botanical diversity of the Northeast region and the importance of the participation of health professionals in the process of therapeutic use of medicinal and herbal plants, the present work seeks, through a bibliographic review, to list experiences with this therapeutic practice in basic units The region. The methodological trajectory of the study in question consists of a descriptive / informative research, based on the literary reference and carried out from January to July of 2017. The search for the material was done through researches in the databases of the Ministry of Health (MS) (VHL), Electronic Library Online from Brazil (SciELO BR), Medical Literature Analysis and Retrieval Sistem Online (Medline), Academic Jornals and Dialnet, from the following descriptors: integrative practices in his, phytotherapy, northeast. The research was based on materials published in the last 20 years. It can be verified that Experiences in basic health units have been demonstrating the effectiveness of the implantation of this alternative as a therapeutic form in many diseases, but the professionals' knowledge to the detriment of the dimension is still deficient Of medicinal plants in the states of the Northeast. Despite many technological advances, the main source of knowledge and guidance on herbal medicine, is still the popular tradition. It is noted the precariousness in health care of the people and the inclusion of phytotherapy as a form of care in primary health care can enhance the good care and satisfaction of the users of this service.
