Resumo:
This study aims to analyze the environmental conditions in the drainage basin of the
São José Weir I, in the municipality of the São José de Piranhas. In that area, human activities
have produced negative environmental impacts, affecting the soil conditions, the fauna and
the local flora and the reservoir itself. The activities responsible for the impacts relate to the
remove of riparian vegetation along the water body, agriculture, livestock, and urban growth
and the use of the water surface for leisure and recreation. These human activities cause the
increase of the flow, eroding and sedimentation in the reservoir, contributing to assorening.
Dashing yet leaching of the soil, the entry of pesticides in weir, the pollution by human waste,
because the urban growth near the area, and the animal waste, because the creation of herds in
their margins. The study is based on the deductive method and used as research techniques,
the document research, the bibliographical research and going to the field to collect dices, in
order to corroborate what the literature says about the subject. The results show that human
activities at the site have contributed to deterioration of the resources of the area, in addition
to compromising the quantity and quality of the stored water by the reservoir, harming the
ecosystem as a whole.
